Our partnership with 4H of Sherburne County has allowed me to hire a teacher to teach robotics after school to fourth and fifth graders. As the program director, it was my job to oversee student enrollment, scheduling, and hiring of staff. I recruited our science teacher to be the robotics teacher because of her strong commitment to science and her ability to quickly form positive relationships with students.

The robotics club ran for five weeks in the fall and for seven weeks in the spring. Our goal is to continue to build the program until we are eventually competing at robotics competitions around the state. Being part of the hiring process showed a clear lesson that hiring the right people is incredibly important. Our science teacher was organized, energetic, and well prepared each week. Having a strong teacher for the students made the program a tremendous success.
